Why titanium

Gear that keeps its spring

Steel gear legs slowly take a set. After years of landings they sag, the airplane sits lower and corrosion gets in under the paint. Titanium doesn't fatigue that way. It flexes further, carries more weight and returns to its original shape every time.

The Landing Gear Works is the only FAA PMA holder in the world for titanium main gear on the Cessna 180 and 185. The gear is also EASA STC approved.

Fifty years of landing gear

The Landing Gear Works began in 1976 as XPMods, building engine mounts for Cessna 170s in a T-hangar at Harvey Field. Today its machine shop sits a few blocks from Auburn Municipal Airport (S50). There the team machines, tests and flies its own gear, tail springs and tailwheels.
